Application Study of Active Front Steering with Integrated Feedback Control for Steering-by-Wire System

Combined with a linear two degrees of freedom vehicle model, a kind of new integrated feedback control strategy, which is on the basis of weighting factors of the realtime yaw rate and the lateral acceleration, is put forwards in this paper. An ideal variable steering ratio strategy is developed and the corresponding controller is also designed. By the computer-simulation technique, the double lane change experiment and the cross wind experiment are carried out. The simulation results show that the path similarity of the integrated feedback control strategy is highest in comparison with the manual steering control and the feedback yaw rate control, the yaw rate betters 10.3 percent and the lateral acceleration betters 9.32 percent than the manual steering control system for the double lane change test. Meanwhile, the new control strategy gains the best characteristics in the three different control methods, so the proposed integrated feedback control strategy can effectively improve the Steering system characteristics and the handling stability of vehicles.
